The Heritage and Legacy of Sylvia Townsend-Warner 1893-1978: A Talk by Mark Chutter
Mark Chutter, Chair of the Thomas Hardy Society, and a leading light in the campaign for the statue of Sylvia Townsend Warner recently unveiled in Dorchester, will talk on the life and legacy of this important Dorset-based writer in a talk to mark LGBTQ+ history month.
Sylvia and her partner, Valentine Ackland, fell in love with Dorset and lived in Chaldon Herring and Frome Vauchurch near Maiden Newton from 1930 till the end of their lives.
Tickets for the talk include a glass of wine and nibbles.
Dorset Archives Trust are planning a fundraising campaign to catalogue the archives of Townsend-Warner, held at Dorset History Centre.
