The Butch Monologues

An extraordinary collection of stories exploring sexuality, vulnerability and desire.

This is a last chance to see real-life testimonies from butches, masculine-presenting females, transmen and gender rebels based in the UK, USA, Caribbean, Ireland, Australia and more, gathered by writer Libro Levi Bridgeman and directed by Julie McNamara.

“If you’re sick of hearing about “Toxic Masculinity”, this is the perfect antidote.” Cameron Woodhead, The Sydney Morning Herald.

Originally a collaboration between Hotpencil Press, Vital Xposure and The Drakes, The Butch Monologues first toured in 2015. Since then it has been staged at sell-out shows at venues and festivals worldwide, including the UK, Ireland and New York Abron Arts, La Mama, Outburst,Shout!, Homotopia, L Fest, Just Like a Woman.

The show has been presented 3 times at WOW on London’s Southbank.

Following a tour to Australia in 2019 at Midsumma Festival Theatreworks and Mardi Gras Seymour Centre the company brought the show back to the UK for a final sold-out performance in Hastings (The Stables, August 2021) and to online audiences across the globe this autumn.
