ShakesQueer

Performance artist Tom Marshman elegantly intertwines his personal experience of Shakespeare with queer voices of the past in this fun, energetic multi-artform show.

Tom has had an uncomfortable relationship with Shakespeare in the past, from experiencing a badly cast production of Troilus and Cressida to discovering what ‘To be or not to be’ actually means. Now he is ready to revisit the Bard, and by using the voices of queer actors and musicians who have connected with Shakespeare’s legacy, Tom hopes to find new ways of making Shakespeare relevant for himself and other queer people today.

In this brand new show devised exclusively for the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust, audiences are transported to a queer closet to hear the shocking stories that circle the Shakespeare legend.

This work has been made possible by the support of Arts Council England.
