A conversation and poetry reading with its publisher Ben Townley – Canning, editor, poet and translator Leo Boix and poet Tibiezas Dager.
Hemisferio Cuir: An Anthology of Young Queer Latin American Poetry is an electrifying new collection spotlights LGBTQIA+ voices across Latin America in a bold bilingual collection that amplifies the voices of young LGBTQIA+ poets from across the Latin American region and its diaspora.
Edited and translated by the award-winning poet Leo Boix, Hemisferio Cuir is a literary milestone that explores queer desires, transgressive sexualities, and radical body politics in a post-patriarchal world. Featuring poets from 18 Spanish-speaking countries, this anthology brings together a dazzling spectrum of queer expression—from Indigenous and Afro-Latin American poets to voices from rural communities—delivering a powerful and intersectional portrait of contemporary Latin American poetry.
“These are voices that challenge, seduce, and liberate. Hemisferio Cuir is not just an anthology; it’s an act of resistance, a celebration of queer Latinidad, and a bridge between languages, cultures, and identities,” says Leo Boix, whose previous works include Ballad of a Happy Immigrant (Chatto & Windus, 2021) and Southernmost: Sonnets (Chatto & Windus, 2025).
With themes spanning love, loss, family, discrimination, trans sensibilities, and desire, the anthology offers a fresh and fearless perspective on queer life in Latin America today. Published by Fourteen Poems, a London-based poetry press dedicated to championing LGBTQ+ voices, Hemisferio Cuir is set to be an essential addition to contemporary queer literature.
The anthology features the following poets: Washington Atencio, Paula Galíndez, Silvina Giaganti, and Pablo Romero (Argentina); César Antezana/Flavia Lima (Bolivia); Gabriela Contreras and Pablo Jofré (Chile); Flor Bárcenas Feria and Ana López Hurtado (Colombia); Ronald Campos López and David Ulloa (Costa Rica); Yordán Rey Oliva (Cuba); Ju Puello (Dominican Republic); Tibiezas Dager and Victoria Vaccaro García (Ecuador); Alberto López Serrano (El Salvador); Manuel Gabriel Tzoc Bucup (Guatemala); Yasón Serra and V. Andino Díaz (Honduras); Ingrid Bringas, César Cañedo, and Daniel Nizcub (Mexico); Magaly Castillo (Nicaragua); Edu Barreto (Paraguay); Fiorella Terrazas (Peru); Myr Olivares and Alejandra Rosa Morales (Puerto Rico); Ivix Pereira (Uruguay); and Enza García Arreaza (Venezuela).
