LGBT History Month Patron Sir Ian McKellen Wins Lifetime Achievement Award

The Gay Times Lifetime Achievement Award has gone to Sir Ian McKellen, one of the first patrons of LGBT History Month.
The award, which was announced at The Gay Times Awards Ceremony 2018 at The walker Gallery in Liverpool. He spoke proudly of his total coming out 30 years ago, which resulted in his photo appearing on the front page of Gay Times.
The Community Award went to Diversity Role Models, for whom Schools OUT UK Committee member Kate Hutchinson works, for their work with schools.
The honourees will all have their portraits hung in the gallery.
