Australia Votes for Same-Sex Marriage

Over 60% of Australian voters have said yes to same sex marriage and PM Malcolm Turnbull reckons that  same sex partners will be able to wed by Christmas.
After a long and hard fought campaign Australia voted to join its new world cousins New Zealand and Canada by voting in favour of same sex couples being allowed to marry. The result was announced 10am Australian time  on Wednesday the 15th of November (11pm 14th November GMT).
Same sex marriage will soon be introduced subject to minor alterations to allow religious exemptions. Interestingly, following the Ashers Bakery gay wedding cake court case in Northern Ireland, cake makers may be allowed to refuse to endorse same sex marriage on their products.
