Russell T Davies’ Outstanding Achievement Award

The creator of Queer as Folk and Torchwood, and patron of OUTing The Past,  discussed his career with longtime collaborator Nicola Shindler. 

Cult TV icon Russell T Davies deservedly received the Outstanding Achievement Award at 2017’s TV Festival, and his interview with Nicola Shindler is now available to view on YouTube.
Nicola, founder of the Red Production Company and Russell’s longtime collaborator, presented him with the accolade on Thursday 24 August and interviewed him the following day.
The pair reflected on some of Russell’s acclaimed television dramas and series such as Queer as Folk, Bob & Rose, The Second Coming, Casanova, as well as his 2005 revival of Doctor WhoRussell also created the Doctor Who spin-offs Torchwood and The Sarah Jane Adventures, and most recently Cucumber, Banana and Tofu, three LGBT interconnected series for Channel 4.
The writer and producer also adapted A Midsummer Night’s Dream for BBC One, and the upcoming A Very English Scandal – a new LGBT three-part drama based on the book of the same name.
