The pride run is sponsoring schools OUT UK this year.
This is a chance for the charity that founded and runs LGBT History Month UK to be given promotion and – hopefully – money!
We are very excited at the prospect of being able to produce more resources for teachers to usualise LGBT people and make the National Festival of LGBT History – OUTting the Past reach more people.

The Pride Run attracts more than 1,000 runners plus friends, family and other participants. They rely on volunteers to make it happen and for the Pride Run to be safe and successful for all those involved. They need around 60 volunteers. We hope that Schools Out UK can help rally support and get people to volunteer. Volunteer Co-ordinator, Daniel, will brief volunteers on the day, allocate tasks and give out instructions for what needs to be done.
Details:
Volunteers should arrive by 8am for a briefing. FYI, the childrens fun run starts at 9:30am and the main Pride Run 10k is at 11am. There is a prize giving and party at a beer garden in the park from 1pm.
Volunteer activities include:
- Marshalling and directing runners around the course
- Handing out water along the course
- Setting up course markers
- Filling goody bags, for both the childrens run and the main run
- Giving out goody bags and medals to those who complete the race
- Helping to tidy up after and putting rubbish in bin bags
These are some of the main activities help is needed with, there may be others. Most of the jobs are outside but are not strenuous or difficult.
Volunteers will be provided with refreshments. They will have a fun day-out and be part of a friendly team – helping the Run and also Schools Out!
It would be great if SOUK/LGBT HM supporters can spread the word and get people to commit to volunteering on the day. Anyone interested should email: volunteer@pride10k.org
