The Third ‘What is & How to Do LGBT History?’ Conference
Manchester: Friday 26 to Sunday 28 February 2016
The third ‘What is & How to Do LGBT History: Methods, Subjects and Approaches’ conference is part of the second National Festival of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Trans* History that will run throughout the month of February, which has been designated since 2005 as LGBT History Month (UK).
Despite many advances in our understanding of lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans* and intersex (LGBTI) histories, the study of past attitudes towards sex and gender diversity remains an underdeveloped field. This conference seeks to place experiences and identities in their historical context and thereby uncover and understand regional, temporal and ideological differences in past attitudes towards gender and sex.
