A new pdf is available for teachers and schools promoting trans teachers. The short document is a collection of soundbites telling people what the trans community has to contribute to a school. It is released to coincide with Trans Day of Remembrance (TDOR) 2014
The transgender community is massively under-represented in the teaching profession and, despite legal protection, non-cisgender teachers are subject to prejudice and discrimination in schools. Yet there is an increasing number of young people coming out as trans in school and they feel isolated and alone.
A trans teacher makes the community visible and promotes a safe and inclusive school.
