James Howarth of the human rights lobby, the Peter Tatchell Foundation said: “Please forward this invitation to all of your Email, Twitter and Facebook friends. Don’t just share it, invite everyone you know. We need your help to spread the word and ensure a turnout that will send a message to India that the time has come for LGBT equality,” said Mr Howarth.

India’s ban on homosexuality was imposed by the British when India was under colonial rule. It was repealed four years ago but reimposed in December 2013 to assuage certain religious groups and lobbyists, making LGB people who came out in the interim especially vulnerable.
Protest organiser Scott Weiss added: “India needs our help. Please attend this protest.
