Above The Stag Theatre presents: A HARD RAIN

Above The Stag Theatre presents

A HARD RAIN
by Jon Bradfield and Martin Hooper

26 February – 30 March

A thrilling new play, set in the sweltering few days before the Stonewall riots erupted.

Kicked out of the military after a year in Vietnam, “Ruby” rocks up in Greenwich Village NYC in high heels and a rage, and takes up residence in a mafia-run gay bar. There he meets the street kid who will change his world.
A Hard Rain unfolds in a mafia-run bar greased with smart-talking queers, bribe-happy cops and nervous Wall Street high-flyers. It’s a play about what happens when you push things underground.
It is the first drama from Jon Bradfield and Martin Hooper whose acclaimed Christmas shows for Above The Stag have become an institution, described as “hilarious” (Time Out); “brilliant” (Gay Times) “thoroughly entertaining (The Stage) and “Unstoppably good” (Whatsonstage)
Director Tricia Thorns’ recent production, London Wall, was critically lauded at the Finborough Theatre and transferred to the West End’s St. James Theatre. She has also directed at Soho Theatre, Trafalgar Studios and Southwark Playhouse.
