The Pride Reviewed

The Pride, a play written by Alexi Kaye Campbell, deals with men coming to terms with their sexual identity (or not) in two different time periods; 1958 and 2008. This intensely powerful and tragicomic production by Jamie Lloyd deals with the pressures of coming to terms with being gay on a personal level but it also reminds us how far we’ve come in 50 years; from a furtive illegal existence to a world where we can share our relationships and even marry. Of course there are still hurdles to be leapt over.
Anyone who has an interest in our community’s history has to see this play. Its four person cast is made up of Hayley Atwell, Harry Hadden-Paton, Al Weaver and Mathew Horne. It runs at The Trafalgar Studios Theatre in Whitehall until November the 9th.
