It is with great pleasure that we at History Month note the passing of the Equal Marriage (Same Sex Couples) Act today.
Congratulations to all those who have worked tirelessly in recent years to ensure the safe, un-sabotaged passage of one of the most important pieces of social legislation of this century. Veteran LGBT rights campaigner Peter Tatchell was there to show his support, and our co-chair Sue Sanders and Promotions Officer Andrew Dobbin were able to put in a brief appearance to show LGBTHM’s solidarity with this cause.
As another milestone on the path to full equality is passed, we look forward to turning our attentions to the next – education, where the roots of much homophobia still lie.
We hope those who believe in the equality of marriage will fight as hard alongside us as we fight the biggest demon of them all – ignorance.
