Busy busy busy!

On Wednesday Sue Sanders, Tony Fenwick,  Andrew Dobbin and Matthew Francis were guests at Simmons & Simmons Solicitors annual Corporate Responsibility awards in the City of London. Presented by guest speaker, the superb Clare Balding, the Diversity Award went to Adrian Dykes and Adam Waite for their work in helping our parent organisation Schools Out achieve charitable status.
Sue, Tony and Andrew then attended the TUC LGBT Conference at Congress House in Bloomsbury, where over the course of two days they raised around £500 from badge sales. Huge thanks from us to all the delegates; thanks to you Schools Out will continue to fund all the free resources to continue helping LGBT people all over the UK education system be visible and safe.
Add to that a further £250 from a beautifully manic day at London Pride, during which we received hundreds of enquiries about membership and training from parents, governors, primary level teachers and secondary teachers and we were left exhausted but inspired. We’re looking forward to a shift in focus towards equality, acceptance and celebration in education that everyone on the steering committee sense is building.
One interesting event while we were in the throng; the co-chair’s chair went missing; literally. Sue’s folding picnic chair disappeared from under our noses whilst we were dealing with eager members of the general public. So if anyone finds an abandoned folding canvas picnic chair, in racing green in the vicinity of Trafalgar Square please let us know on info@lgbthistorymonth.org .uk.
