Pedro Almadovar is back in action with his campest comedy ever. Reverting to stereotype, I’m So Excited! is set on an aeroplane where the cabin crew lip synch the eponymous Pointer Sisters’ classic.
But like all Almadovar’s work there is more to this than meets the eye. The plane is a metaphor for austerity-stricken Spain. Nobody knows where it is going or when it will land there. The crew on board are in a sex and drug induced frenzy with the passengers in business class while the economy class passengers have been drugged into a state of inertia.
I’m So Excited goes on release in the UK on May the 3rd.
