Hate Crime Awareness Week Ends with Vigil in Trafalgar Square

The 17-24-30 No To Hate Crime Campaign 2012 is under way to encourage as many people as possible to help tackle hate crime by doing something local.
There will be hate crime vigils in Trafalgar Square, Norwich, Milton Keynes and Brighton simultaneously on Saturday the 20th of October from 7pm.
“The idea is simple, we want to encourage people to approach their local authorities now and ask them to do something local to promote hate crime awareness during our first National (and hopefully International) Hate Crime Awareness Week 13th-19th, the week before the London Vigil against Hate Crime takes place on the 20th October.”

1st Hate Crime Awareness Week 13th—19th October

The year we are launching our first Hate Crime Awareness Week with the ambition of getting as many people around the UK and abroad to do something to raise awareness of local hate crime issues.
We want Local Authorities (the Police and Council) to do something to promote their existing hate crime services. It could be as simple as distributing leaflets and posters to local venues and offices to advertise local information or to put on local events to bring people together.
Our great graphics designer Sebastian Aird has helped us design this year’s Hate Crime Awareness Week Poster which we hope you’ll download and use to promote local events.

It is a great opportunity to promote local organisationsservices and specialist Hate Crime Liaison Officers!
If your organizing anything then please let us know !

Obviously what we would really like to see happen is as many organisations, bars and clubs as possible organise solidarity vigil events* on the 20th October to raise awareness of this year’s International Day of Hope and Remembrance for those affected by Hate Crime and promote the 17-24-30 No to Hate Crime Campaign.
