No Same-Sex marriage for Australia

The Australian House of Representatives voted 92 to 48 against same sex marriage yesterday. Both the prime minister Julia Gillard and opposition leader Tony Abbott, plus former prime minister Kevin Rudd, voted against the bill. Labour member Stephen Jones urged campaigners to, “Maintain your rage”. Some individual Australian states, including the formerly notoriously homophobic Tasmania, are yet to vote on same-sex marriage.
