LGBT Olympic Round-up

South African archer Karen Hultzer came out at the Olympics, bringing the number of LGBT athletes up to 23, although she was an also-ran in the events. Matthew Mitcham didn’t make the finals in the 10m men’s diving after his golden performance in Beijing but a musical career awaits as long as he can bring the ukelele back into fashion.
On a sadder, or angrier note, the Russian ban on the promotion of homosexuality (remember that terminology?) means there will be no Pride House at the Sochi Olympics in 2014 and the IOC says it’s not their problem. So much for an LGBT Olympic legacy!
