Simon Blake, CEO of the sexual health charity Brook and now chair of Diversity Role Models claims that LGB visibility is the key to wiping out homophobia in our schools.
According to the Pink Paper, Blake said: “Evidence shows we will continue to breed bullying and fear unless gay sexuality becomes visible in schools. We need openness in the playground, in the classroom and in the behaviour of teachers. Make sexuality human and it becomes an issue or fairness – something young people feel passionately about.”
His comments come as the Department for Education draws up its plans for changes to Sex and Relationships education in time for September.
