Welcome to IDAHO

Today is International Day against Homophobia (IDAHO) and the theme is “Combatting homophobia and transphobia in education and through education”. With that in mind Schools OUT is doing loads of stuff to celebrate.
Today co – chair Sue Sanders is running a pilot enrichment course with PGCE students at Manchester Metropolitan University to enable students to explore the issues of including LGBT issues across the curriculum and engage with the new website The classroom. They will also be working with Jeff Evans and Amelia Lee, members of theSchools OUT committee.
Fellow co-chair Tony Fenwick will be at the UCL in central London tonight talking at an IDAHO event organised by Camden LGBT Forum. He will address the current state of the art with the Equality Act and our ongoing efforts to make schools safe spaces for our communities. Ring 02073885720 if you wish to attend
Tomorrow Tony will be at the Conway Hall for an GALHA/Schools OUT education event, showing the short films to be distributed in schools as part of the Rights Agaianst Intolerance in an Open Minded World (RAINBOW) Project and joining a panel to discuss how as educationalists we move forward. Go to the IDAHO website above if you wish to attend.
