Clare Launches Pride Diary and European anti-homophobia in football Tour

Clare B Dimyon MBE* (for services to lesbian, gay bisexual & transgender people in central & eastern Europe) is going to go to the Ukraine to follow “her team to collect rainbow colours” (of the national teams), combat homophobia in English football AND to meet Ukrainian LGBT people who are having a terrible time facing a “homosexual propaganda” law far worse than anything currently in Russia.
After all Shakespeare whose birthday we also celebrate today wrote in Henry V “Follow your spirit, and upon this charge Cry ‘God for Harry, England, and Saint George!’”
14 May Clare will go to first ever Kyiv PRIDE (Kyiv is Kiev in Ukrainian, Kiev is the Russian derivation)
PRIDE Solidarity Tour 2012:
2 June to Warsaw Parade of Equality onto Bratislava PRIDE in Slovakia before heading for Kyiv (Kiev) for the Sweden v Ukraine game on 11 June (YELLOW and BLUE) before going to Kharkiv for Netherlands v Germany to collect ORANGE and LVIV to collect the Danish RED and DONETSK to collect English RED.
Not a lot of people know that DONETSK in the far east of Ukraine was founded by a BRIT who took football with him to Ukraine. John Hughes (also an engineer Clare is one too) founded Donetsk because of the vast coal and steel deposits and Donetsk is suitably twinned with Sheffield! Lviv in the west of Ukraine is twinned with Rochdale and Clare is already in discussions with the city councils in each city and with people in Wales for their contribution to this people-to-people goodwill effort.
Donetsk is also where England play 2 of their 3 1st round games, a real home from home…. and Clare plans to be there with her rainbow flag for the England v Ukraine game and for the semi final on 27 June, which is also Rainbow flag day! You can be sure that Clare will be celebrating in style with the LGBT people of Donetsk even if she can’t work out how to get a single ticket to a single match.
