Same Sex Marriage: Your Thoughts

The Government Equalities Office launched its consultation re-same sex marriage on the 15th of March 2012. While Equalities minister Lynne Featherstone has made clear her plans to push forward same sex marriage legislation, some clerics have voiced major concerns and – in the case of cardinal O’Brien – used some inflammatory language.  To find out more and make your views known go here. LGBT History Month co-chair Tony Fenwick said: “Whether or not you intend to marry or enter into a civil partnership, you need to say what you feel about our rights. Don’t forget that our enemies will be flooding the site with anti same sex marriage comments and we have to redress the balance. When the pro-establishment Times produces an editorial in favour of same sex marriage – as it did two days ago – you really feel the tide is changing. Plus it looks as if Scotland, where homosexuality wasn’t legalised until 1980, is about to legalise same sex marriage before England does. It’s time to get involved.”
