Belgium to have first gay Prime Minister

After nearly 500 days without a Government, it looks as if Belgium is about to have a gay prime minister of Italian descent. Elio di Rupo, 59 and the leader of the Francophone socialist party, has been charged to form a government out of the six warring parties and is expected to emerge as the new government’s leader.
This would make Belgium the only country in the world to have an openly gay male PM. Iceland’s democratically elected PM Johanna Sigurdardottir is a lesbian.
