LGBT rights, Latvian vodka and Putin’s Russia

Stephen Fry’s call for a boycott of everything Russian was widely reported, Cher won’t sing at the Winter Olympics in Sochi in 2014. The prime minister raised the issue when meeting president Putin at the G20 two weeks ago. But it’s important that such solidarity is properly informed and doesn’t lead to unintended consequences – like the campaign started in the USA for boycotting vodka actually made in Latvia, not Russia.

Schools OUT UK Comments on Paddy Power & Stonewall Football Slogan

LGBT History Month’s mother ship Schools OUT UK has come out against the campaign slogan ‘Right behind Gay Footballers’. They have joined with a number of groups who having already been campaigning for several years to counter the homophobic ethos of British football, are unhappy at Stonewall’s choice of language.

LGBT History Month has been contacted by a film company who are in the process of making a film about the links between the 1984-85 miners’ strike and the LGBT community, and are looking for extras. There are several big name UK actors linked with the project. So if you’ve always yearned to get yer eek on the silver screen, here is your chance.
