Hopes that Californian same-sex couples could tie the knot from this week were dashed on Tuesday when the US Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals upheld proposition 8, which states that marriage must be between a man and a woman.
Activists were disappointed but not surprised by the three-judge ruling, aware that it’s going to be a battle every step of the way.
The good news for Californians is that an appeal against Prop 8 is set for December 6th.
