This LGBT+ history month celebrating behind the lens we hosted an engaging cinema screening to aid in the education about a population of queer identities that have been actively left out of our history education. Our queer history talk with Gethin Roberts from Lesbians and Gays Support the Miners was enjoyed by all in attendance. It was a joy to speak with Gethin, who gave us insights into the politics of the 80s and how we can learn from what has come before.
The cinema screening of PRIDE was an emotional rollercoaster as always, which in its total inspirational sweep, earns comparison to the movement it chronicles – as an organized, well-calculated piece of political theatre and is as heart-warming as it is a rousing call for radical resistance and solidarity between oppressed groups. We used this event to launch our official plans for Pride in Barnet on Sunday August 20th 2023. Hope to see you there! Thanks to Gethin Roberts, Barnet Council, Middlesex University, The Metropolitan Police LGBT+ NW Rep and everyone that came out to celebrate with us.
