2020 Badge and Faces of 2020 Unveiled

We’re thrilled to reveal our new badge, designed by John Roome, design student at the University of Bedfordshire in Luton.

We hope you agree his creation is perfect for next year’s theme “Poetry, Prose and Plays”, our fist link with the National Curriculum subject of English.
The new badge will go on sale at the TUC LGBT Conference in July and will be available from us at our various Pride events during the summer, as well as from our online shop.
The new badge design comes in conjunction with the announcement of our official ‘Faces’ of 2020:
US playwright Lorraine Hansberry. Her play ‘A Raisin In The Sun’ has been on many a school  curriculum:

UK author E.M. Forster, whose 1913 novel of gay love ‘Maurice’ was not published until after his death in 1970. Next year is the 50th anniversary of his death:

William Shakespeare is our bisexual representative. Shakespeare’s sexual orientation has long been debated, and the words of Sonnet 20 have often been quoted as evidence of same-sex love:

Finally we have biographer and author Dawn Langley Simmons as our Trans representative. As well as writing biographies on people as diverse as Princess Margaret and Dame Margaret Rutherford, Dawn (the child of Vita Sackville-West’s chauffeur) was also the bride at South Carolina’s first ever mixed-race wedding!

Copies of  the posters as well as detailed fact-sheets on each of our chosen individuals are available on our resource page.
