National Hate Awareness Week

National Hate Crime Awareness Week 2016 will take place from 8th to 15th October. So it’s time to start thinking about what you will do to support the week this year!

You can check out the Stop Hate UK site (SHUK) and also visit 17-24-30’s website for more details for ideas on getting involved. Also, be sure to look out for and use the hashtag #NHCAW on Twitter.

There are plenty of ways people got involved for previous years.

  • People put their Hands up for Challenging Hate – there were many photos; see the Galleries page to see some of them
  • Candlelit vigils were held across the country, including London, Sussex, Devon, Suffolk and Berkshire.
  • There was plenty of coverage in the media

In past years, we’ve been overwhelmed with the amount of support, and would like to thank everybody for their letters and statements, including SHUK Patron, Baroness Lawrence, former Prime Minister David Cameron and many other senior politicians, including former London Mayor Boris Johnson.
