Prejudice and Pride, a book of personal LGBT histories, was launched in Manchester at The people’s Museum on February 28th at an event held by LGBT Youth North West.
The group’s director Amelia Lee said: “An LGBT activist and civil rights history from the 1960′s to the 2000′s has had a huge impact on our social and political landscape in the UK, yet much of this history remains hidden. Through personal stories of activists, heard and recorded by young people from LGBT Youth North West, Prejudice and Pride explores the wibbly wobbly nature of people’s histories and reveals how they interlink in surprising and creative ways to form the current landscape.”
Prejudice and pride is based on interviews with local and national figures such as Sally Carr, Peter Tatchell and Schools OUT UK chair Sue Sanders. Tony Fenwick, CEO contributed two chapters pertaining to education.
