The Launch of LGBT History Month 2015 will go ahead on Tuesday 18th November at The Museum of The Order of St John, Clerkenwell, London.

There will speakers on each of our Faces of 15: Jan Bridget on Anne Lister, Jez Dolan of Polari Mission on Hugh Paddick and Kenneth Williams (and the phenomenon of polari), respected artist Sadie Lee will discuss Frida Kahlo, and probably our most fascinating ‘face’ The Chevalier d’Eon de Beaumont will be the topic of The Tate Gallery’s Clare Barlow.
Music will be provided by Diversity Choir, and Champagne Charlie, and we will acknowledge the contribution of LGBT people in World War One with extracts from ‘For The Trumpets Shall Sound’.
And all of this will be hosted by cabaret artist Rose Collis.
During the day, there will be a chance to browse various charity stalls prior to the show itself.
Teachers and youth workers will have the chance to benefit from a range of resources and ideas absolutely free at the LGBT History Month Launch on November the 18th at the Museum of St John, Clerkenwell. As well as the evening event, there are two afternoon workshops which will benefit people who work with children and young people.
The first is for youth workers. Entitled: Sharing Best Practice: LGBT History Projects and Activities for Youth Group Settings; it’s a workshop where people who work with LGBT young people can share and learn about unearthing LGBT histories in an interesting way and involve young LGBT people in finding out how our communities have developed, whilst empowering them with communication and project planning skills.
You will see and hear about some successful projects using LGBT history in creative ways, including the LGBT activist musical project ‘What a Difference A gay Makes’ and the How We Got Here oral histories project. We hope that this will inspire you and give you some ideas to develop about your own work. Of course you may already have started a project and if so we would love you to come and tell us about it. It’s FREE to all people who work with LGBT Young People and it runs from 2-3.30pm

The second is for teachers. Entitled: An All Inclusive Curriculum: How To Make Your School LGBT-Friendly; it’s a workshop where teachers will find out about the latest additions to the Classroom – a one-stop-shop for people who want to visibilise and usualise LGBT people through the curriculum.
You will see new lesson plans, resources and assemblies for primary from Challenging Homophobia in Primary Schools (CHIPS) as well as new lessons for secondary schools.
You will hear about Educate & Celebrate: A whole school approach to making a safe and inclusive school. It’s FREE to all people who work with schoolchildren in a learning environment. It runs from 4-5.30pm
