LGBT Tenants Unfairly Treated

A report into LGBT people and social housing reveals that public service cuts have disproportionately affected LGBT communities, especially in the areas of advice, support, health and well-being services.
Together with the fact that most LGBT people have had a need for social housing and that nearly half feel that their landlords do not understand their needs, this amounts to LGBT tenants being unfairly disadvantaged.
The Human City Institute’s report Rainbow rising, about the housing needs of LGBT communities, brings together a range of research from stakeholders in social housing and equalities with new research by HCI and Trident Social Investment Group.
Peter Tatchell welcomed the report in a foreword in which he stated that hard-won equalities legislation was now in place in the UK but we still have a duty to make it happen in practise.
