Vigil for Murdered Jamaican

“Out & Proud Diamond Group invites you to a peaceful protest against the brutal murder of Jamaican transgender Dwayne Jones in Jamaica and for LGBTI rights in Jamaica. the protest will take place on 28/ august 2013 starting at 4:30 pm venue Jamaican Embassy in London 1-2 Prince Consort Road London SW7 2BZ, nearest underground South Kensington station Circle and Piccadilly lines district buses: numbers 9, 10, 52, 14, 49 and 74. Thereafter a vigil will be held for Dwayne Jones at 6 pm organised by justice for Dwayne Jones.
Relentlessly teased at school, then at 14 Dwayne was kicked out of home, by a father who joined in with neighbors homophobic jeers as Dwayne left .
At 16 Dwayne was beaten , stabbed , shot and if that was not enough, Dwayne was run over by a car on July 22 after being attacked at a party Dwayne attended dressed in women’s clothing. According to reports, someone at the party identified Dwayne as ‘male’ then a mob chased and murdered. http://bigstory.ap.org/article/jamaica-transgender-teen-murdered-mob.
This vigil outside the Jamaican high commission demands justice for Dwayne Jones Jamaican authorities need to send an unequivocal message that there will be zero tolerance for violence against lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people. That the police thoroughly investigate Dwayne’s murder That witnesses are offered complete anonymity until the trial and interviewed on a neighbouring island at an undisclosed venue. Asylum and shelter from persecution must be offered to all witnesses.  Prime Minister Portia Simpson-Miller and other government officials, religious leaders, and other prominent community leaders should join Senator Golding in condemning the killing and work to create an environment that protects the rights of all Jamaicans. No Justice No Peace – Justice for Dwayne.
