Ugandan Anti-Gay Bill to be Law Before Christmas

Following a report that the Anti-Gay Bill had been shelved by parliament, Speaker Rebecca Kadaga announced on Monday the 26th of November that the Ugandan Anti-Gay Bill will become law before the new year because “the people want it.”
Although it is understood that the Bill has had the threat of the death penalty removed, there will be harsher penalties across the board for people convicted of homosexual acts. Support for the Bill follows a hefty propoganda campaign led by clerics which firmly perpetuates the myth of a connection between homosexuality and paedophilia, leading to a commonality of popular opinion that such measures are necessary to save children from sexual predators.
Clerics have even been heard to describe the Bill as “a Christmas present” to the Ugandan people. To read more go here
