Paralympic Opening a Feast for Equality

Last night’s opening festival for the paralympics was a magical affair and a triumph of inclusivity. An arrangement of The national Anthem by Benjamin Britten, which was astonishingly listenable, began events. The London Gay Men’s Chorus was among the choristers. Later, Lee Pearson was interviewed by Clare Balding with Claire Harvey smiling in the background, while LGBT History Month patron Sir Ian McKellen played a wise Prospero, freeing his daughter Miranda, played by Nicola Miles-Wildin, who has limited mobility, from the island into the big, wide world.
The finale involved Beverley Knight knocking out a loud and proud version of the anthem I Am What I Am. Stephen Daldry, you did us proud.
