Schools tell gay and lesbian pupils to change separately

A research report in Yorkshire has found evidence that students in schools who identify as gay or lesbian have been told to change separately from their classmates. The report, Tackling Homophobia and Transphobia In Settings Supporting Young People, which is published to coincide with Anti-Bullying Week, interviewed students, teachers and youth workers about their experience in South Yorkshire. Students in more than one school reported being told to change for PE and games in separate areas.
Lead researcher at Hallam Eleanor Formby claimed that such practices “normalise homophobia”.
One PE teacher is alleged to have told pupils that if their son or daughter was gay they  would take them out into the garden and shoot them. To read more click here
